Oral Health For Kids

Did you know that teeth can form cavities as soon as they erupt? We recommend they have their first visit with us at around 12 months of age or 6 months after their first tooth erupts.

Keeping baby teeth healthy is important to:

  • Prevent pain and discomfort
  • Help with chewing
  • Maintain space in the jaw for permanent teeth
  • Assist in speech development
  • Increase self-esteem

Regular check-ups are important to maintain healthy teeth and gums and to catch any form of disease early. For most children, six month visits are enough but we may recommend to bring your child in more frequently if they have a history of tooth decay or require special behaviour management. Bringing your child in regularly will help to make him/her feel more relaxed and comfortable in the office and future visits easier.

You should start brushing your child’s teeth twice a day as soon as they erupt. This will encourage good oral hygiene habits at an early age.
